Feline Medicine Symposium: Saturday, June 13th, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the CVM. This course will cover several aspects of feline medicine encountered by practitioners, including infectious diseases, pain management, oncology, behavior and urinary issues. Small Animal Abdominal Ultrasound: Saturday, June 13th and Sunday, June 14th at the CVM. This program is designed to give veterinarians and veterinary technicians experience with diagnostic ultrasound. Disaster Preparedness: Be Ready for Anything!: Saturday, June 20th from 8 a.m. to noon at the CVM. Participants will learn how to create a disaster plan and kit for their animals; what behavioral changes their pets may exhibit under stressful conditions; basic animal first aid; and information about volunteering in a disaster or emergency situation. Canine/Feline Oncologic Reconstructive Surgery Laboratory: Saturday, June 27th from 8 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. at the CVM. Cardiology Foundations for Clinical Excellence: Saturday, June 27th from noon to 4 p.m. at the CVM. Advanced Education for Veterinary Technicians - Cytology: Saturday, July 25th from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the CVM. Cytologic evaluation of lesions is a critical component of the diagnostic plan for many veterinary patients and often the veterinary technician is the primary person responsible for sample management. All necessary points regarding adequate sample collection methods and sites; proper processing techniques to prepare and stain slides and body fluids; and evaluation of quality control will be discussed.
