Animal Behavior Service
The Animal Behavior Service of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (formerly The Veterinary Behavior Clinic) specializes in the treatment of behavior disorders in companion animals. These include anxiety disorders, elimination problems, compulsive behaviors, aggression and numerous other problems in dogs and cats.
When seen in our office, presently located in Cary, NC, patients are evaluated and a management program is developed. This generally consists of specific instructions regarding environmental management and behavior modification techniques. After a medical evaluation, behavioral medication may also be prescribed. For new clients, telephone or internet consultation services are not available through the Animal Behavior Service.
The Director of the Animal Behavior Service is Dr. Barbara Sherman, a veterinarian and specialist in the field of veterinary behavior. Dr. Sherman is assisted by Dr. Margaret Gruen, who completed her behavior residency in 2009.

Please note that the Animal Behavior Service is located in a satellite facility, not at the main location of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Raleigh. The hours are Mondays and Thursdays from 9:00AM to 5:00PM.
