Hours: The equine medicine service receives elective cases routinely between 10-12 weekdays and at other times by special arrangement. Please call between 8-5 weekdays for an estimate and appointment.

Emergency Services
The equine medicine service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for treatment of emergency problems. To refer a horse on an emergency basis, call 919.513.6640 during the day or 919.513.6500 after hours.

Step #1 : Get to know your local equine practitioner, learn life style, work environment and develop mentoring relationship

Step #2 : Get to know your local farrier, learn life style, work environment and develop mentoring relationship

Step #3 : Lean the prerequisites and requirements for getting into various veterinary colleges, Student Services

Step #4 : Get good grades, read about the horse industry, get a job in the horse industry, produce and compete with a science fair project about horse health, NC State Science Fair

Step #5 : Attend horse industry continuing educations programs offered to horse owners through the CVM Continuing Education, Horse Husbandry Extension and if young enough 4-H Programs
