Diagnostic Imaging
The Diagnostic Imaging service provides expertise and acquisition of multiple imaging modalities to assist in the diagnosis and management of patients at the North Carolina State University Teaching Hospital. The modalities available include standard radiographic imaging (x-rays) using digital format (Fuji Computed Radiography and Eklin Digital Radiography), fluoroscopy, diagnostic ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), nuclear medicine and access to Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) on site through the Iam's Pet Imaging Center.
The hospital has been equipped with a digital picture archive and communication system and a radiology information system that allows clinicians to view images and reports from computers throughout the hospital minutes after they are acquired. The images are evaluated by one or more radiologists and radiologists-in-training (residents). Every effort is made to ensure the imaging procedures performed on our patients are done with the minimal amount of patient stress and anxiety.
All radiologists are certified by the American College of Veterinary Radiology and our radiology technologists are also certified veterinary technologists.
