Department Head, Molecular Biomedical Sciences

The NC State University College of Veterinary Medicine invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Department Head of the Department of Molecular Biomedical Sciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine. Position Information:

The CVM has achieved national recognition in research, teaching and clinical excellence, and the Department of Molecular Biomedical Sciences (MBS) plays critical roles in all of these areas. MBS bridges basic and clinical research and is home to 45 multi-disciplinary faculty as well as staff, post-doctoral fellows, graduate students and house officers. Disciplines represented in MBS include basic science fields (cell biology, physiology, gross anatomy, developmental and reproductive biology, environmental science and toxicology, genomics, neurobiology, and regenerative medicine), clinical specialties (anesthesiology, pharmacology, nutrition, and diagnostic imaging), and pedagogy. The MBS department trains veterinary medical students, house officers, clinician scientists and graduate students interested in research-based careers.

The MBS department’s research mission focuses on the discovery of new knowledge relevant to animal and human disease and applying these findings to enhancing health and well-being. The MBS department’s teaching and clinical missions focus on the delivery of exceptional education to students and service to the Veterinary Hospital enterprise.   The MBS Department Head must be an innovative, creative, visionary, and collaborative leader with the ability and experience required to guide the members of this multi-disciplinary department in achieving these missions.  The MBS Department Head must possess the leadership skills and vision to advance the impact and reputation of the MBS Department nationally and internationally.
