CVM Students Awarded AKC Outreach Scholarships

Three NC State College of Veterinary Medicines students are winners of a 2019 Veterinary Outreach Scholarship from the American Kennel Club.

The Class of 2021’s Dylan DeProspero, and the Class of 2022’s Tyler Myers and Courtney Wicker are among the 15 recipients of the nationwide scholarship supporting students who participate in AKC programs and show exemplary dedication to the well-being of animals. NC State was the only school with more than two winners.

A total of $35,000 was awarded to this year’s recipients. more than two winners. The AKC and its Canine Health Foundation are longtime supporters of the CVM, helping fund groundbreaking cancer and infectious disease studies and regularly honoring faculty with awards for canine health research.

In 2017, the AKC-CHF awarded a $100,000 grant to the CVM to fund a three-year companion animal theriogenology residency program.
