As faculty at NCSU, CVM, I strive to provide high quality teaching on the topics of poultry welfare, diseases, epidemiology, biosecurity, and management and advisement for the student population and community. I interact with representatives from the poultry industry and private poultry owners on clinical issues involving poultry health and welfare and work with poultry industry professionals and academic colleagues on pertinent collaborative research. My duties at the college are as follows:

Responsible for poultry instruction including labs, clinic rotations, and didactic course material. Currently teach and coordinate all core poultry content and senior rotations at the veterinary school. Material covers poultry medicine topics including diagnostics, pathogenesis, prevention and treatment, and regulations associated with common poultry diseases; and poultry management topics such as biosecurity, husbandry, and welfare. Manage and advise residents to assist in their success in the program and to become board certified poultry veterinarians through the American College of Poultry Veterinarians. Acting as the faculty supervisor for our Poultry Teaching Animal Unit providing oversight of day to day management and training opportunities for students with a commercial turkey and chicken flock. Faculty supervisor for the Poultry Health Club helping advise and recruit for the club. Conduct applied research trials based on industry needs for current disease and management issues. Acting field clinician and coordinator of poultry clinical activities for the college. Interact and engage with the North Carolina poultry community including commercial industry, allied industry, state government, other educational institutions, and niche/backyard owners to provide technical assistance, consulting services, and flock health evaluations while incorporating student training into these interactions as much as possible. Interact in the field, in private meetings, and at educational conferences with the state and national poultry industry. Provide service to the college and outside organizations to serve on internal and external committees and working groups.
