Caitlin Mary O’Shea, DVM, MS, DACVS-LA
Clinical Assistant Professor of Equine Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine
Dr. O’Shea grew up in New York and has always been passionate about horses. She received her bachelor’s degree from Cornell University in 2005 and her veterinary degree from Western University of Health Sciences in 2009. She then completed a rotating internship at San Luis Rey Equine Hospital in Bonsall, California and a surgical internship at Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. O'Shea stayed at Virginia Tech for the Large Animal Surgery Residency program and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2015. During her time at Virginia Tech, Dr. O’Shea completed a master’s degree in biomedical and veterinary sciences, investigating equine platelet rich plasma (PRP). Dr. O'Shea worked for several years in private practice in Maryland, the United Arab Emirates, and southwestern USA prior to returning to academia.
