Dr. Karen Tefft obtained her DVM from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2001. She then completed a small animal rotating internship at Veterinary Specialists of South Florida, a private practice near Ft. Lauderdale. She worked as an emergency clinician for several years at VSSF and then at Florida Veterinary Specialists in Tampa before deciding to pursue a residency in internal medicine. She completed her residency at the Atlantic Veterinary College in Prince Edward Island, Canada in 2009 and later a MVSc. She was on the faculty at AVC for two years, before returning to the United States for a position at The Ohio State University for four years. Dr. Tefft joined NCSU in the fall of 2015 as a locum, but in 2016 became a faculty member.
