Applicant submission and receipt to NC State CVM of Supplemental Application, fee payment and GRE scores.

September 16, 2015 @ 8:00 am - 1:00 pm

|
Varies

It is the applicant’s responsibility to access the supplemental application and submit it online by the deadline. It is also the applicant’s responsibility to pay the non-refundable $60.00 supplemental application fee when the supplemental application is complete and prior to the deadline. Instructions regarding the online fee payment are included with the supplemental application.

It’s extremely important that applicants maintain a valid email address that will accept email from our account. Hotmail and MSN accounts often reject mail from NC State University. It is the applicant’s responsibility to monitor his/her e-mail account. Failure to receive e-mail that has been properly sent by the Student Services Office will not be considered as an excuse for missing deadlines. Additionally, it is highly recommended that applicants use professional e-mail addresses that include a first name (or initial) and a last name. Please refrain from using unique handles that are often identified as spam (i.e., iluvferrets_28@gmail.com)

Also, we recommend using Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox as your internet browser. Applicants have experienced problems with other browsers.

Transcript Information & Deadlines

NOTE for 2016 ADMISSIONS CYCLE

  • It is highly recommended that applicants carefully follow the VMCAS transcript submission directions as a new verification process has been implemented. All transcripts must be mailed to VMCAS. Initial transcripts should not be sent to the NC State CVM.
  • VMCAS performs Transcript Verification on all submitted applications.   VMCAS will match your coursework section line by line against your official transcript to ensure you have correctly entered your courses. Applicants are encouraged to submit applications early.
  • Applicants must submit official transcripts of ALL post-secondary coursework regardless of the number of courses completed at one institution or whether the courses fulfill or don’t fulfill prerequisites.
  • Official Transcripts must arrive in sealed envelopes prepared by the granting institution.
  • Submit one transcript per institution by the deadline.  Submit another transcript for any courses completed in the fall of the admissions cycle.  Admitted applicants will be required to submit final spring transcripts or any transcript verifying receipt of a degree.
  • If courses taken at one college have been transferred to another college, applicants must submit official transcripts from both institutions if all of the courses are not listed with grades on the accepting college transcript.
  • Applicants completing coursework in a “Study Abroad” program must follow the VMCAS Study Abroad guidelines.
  • NC State University undergraduates, graduate students and non-degree seeking students must request an official transcript from the Registration and Records Office to be sent to VMCAS

Graduate Record Exam*

All applicants are required to complete the Graduate Record Exam, GRE, prior to the application cycle. The test score must be received electronically by NC State University on or before September 15, 2015 at 11:59pm. Therefore, it is recommended that you take the test no later than August 15 in order for the complete scores to reach us by the September 15th deadline. Scores are sent from ETS to NC State electronically. Paper copies of GRE® scores submitted by applicants are not accepted. Scores that arrive electronically after the September 15th deadline will not be accepted.

The GRE® score is the total from the verbal, quantitative, and written analytical portions of the general test. The general portion of the test includes questions designed to measure skills and knowledge gained over a long period of time. If an applicant takes the test more than once, the highest total score is used from a single testing date, not the highest of each section.

Competitive applicants submit scores that meet or exceed the 50th percentile.

GRE® Score reporting is cumulative. Current GRE Board Policy states that your scores are reportable for 5 years (until September 15 following the fifth anniversary of your test date). Therefore, the GRE® test must have been taken within 5 years of September 15 in the year of application. All scores earned during this time will be reported to each institution you designate. For information about registering for the GRE®, contact the Educational Testing Service at 1-800-GRE-CALL or visit their web site at http://www.gre.org/.

The ETS code for NC State University is 5496 (no department code is used).

*MCAT and DAT scores will not be accepted in lieu of GRE Scores.

Applicants to the DVM Program must have reportable scores on file by the September 15th deadline.

Verify Receipt of Materials

Due to the volume of inquiries and applications, we will verify receipt of credentials (GRE scores) by e-mail only up to five days prior to the admissions deadline (September 10, 2015). Please e-mail us at cvm_dvm@ncsu.edu with your name and VMCAS ID number. We do not accept phone calls regarding the receipt of credentials.

Following the application deadline, the Student Services Office will verify receipt of credentials as part of the application verification process. This could take several weeks. Please note that it is the applicant’s responsibility to submit all required credentials in advance of the deadline to avoid potential delivery issues.

You may contact the Office of Student Services at cvm_dvm@ncsu.edu if you have any questions concerning the admissions process. We will respond to your inquiry as soon as possible during regular business hours, Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm.

Please Note: We do not verify receipt of credentials over the phone.

All application materials must be sent directly to VMCAS except GRE scores.
