Emily Sorah has been appointed director of clinical pharmacy services at the NC State Veterinary Hospital.

Sorah, a member of the pharmacy staff since 2015, has served as interim director following the retirement of Gigi Davidson in October after more than 30 years of service. She said she looks forward to continuing the pharmacy’s commitment to innovation and unmatched education and patient care.

“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to take on this role and continue its reputation of excellence that was established by Gigi Davidson,” said Sorah. “Her mentorship has been invaluable and I am beyond fortunate to have been able to learn from her.”

Sorah, a diplomate of the International College of Veterinary Pharmacists, received her doctor of pharmacy degree from East Tennessee State University. She completed a clinical veterinary pharmacy residency at the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine before joining the hospital’s pharmacy staff.

Originally from Bistol, Tenn., Sorah teaches veterinary pharmacology at Campbell University and at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. She is president-elect of the Society of Veterinary Hospital Pharmacists.

“Dr. Sorah is a wonderful leader for our talented pharmacy team,” said Steve Marks, CVM associate dean and director of veterinary medical services. “She will continue the work that allows us to be one of the top veterinary pharmacy programs in the world.”
