Jamie Digesare, the new registrar on the student services team at the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine, is one of the few people who can say that her husband and daughter’s picture has appeared on an NFL football team’s tickets. The Digesares recently relocated to Raleigh from Jacksonville, Fla., where they were long-time season ticket holders to Jacksonville Jaguars games. As die-hard Jags fans, they were among some of the team’s supporters asked to appear on printed game tickets and team advertising.

Sports loyalties and careers aren’t always compatible, though, and so in August the Digesare family said goodbye to Jacksonville so Digesare could begin her new job with the CVM, and her husband, John, to start an IT job. Their daughter and son are also adjusting to new schools. She has some interesting thoughts to share about her new home.

What is your background?

I’m from a third-generation family in Jacksonville. Originally I had gotten an associate degree, and in 2004 I went back to school at Florida State College to get a bachelor’s degree in management.

How did you get into this field?

When I went back to school I took a job with the college in student services to help pay for my education. While I was there I fell in love with helping students. I ended up taking a full-time job there advising students and working with student records. I worked there for 11 years. I was the registrar and graduation manager before becoming a functional analyst.

What will you be doing in your new job?

I’ll be helping students, faculty and staff with registration, scheduling and planning. That includes schedule changes, selectives and things like that.

What are you most excited about in this new role?

Cooler weather! And less humidity. I’ve only seen snow two or three times in my life, so I’m hoping to see some here.

But really, I’m excited about working with students again.

Can you tell us something that someone would be surprised to learn about you?

Besides being huge Jaguars fans, we’re huge Disney fans, too. Disney World was only about two-and-a-half hours away, so we spent a lot of free time there, especially with the kids.

When you’re not on campus, where could we find you?

Home games for the Jaguars and taking trips to Disney. Or just spending weekends with the kids. We love nature trails, and I enjoy photography.

Do you have any pets?

We don’t have any pets right now, but when I took this job the first question I got was, “When are we getting a dog?” So we might have a dog soon.
