NEW TREATMENT FOR IDIOPATHIC CYSTITIS AND CHRONIC URETHRAL OBSTRUCTIONS IN CATS

Testing Requirements

As an alternative to euthanasia, the clinical trial will test low-dose radiotherapy which is intended to reduce symptoms.
-cats will be required to stay at the hospital for 4-5 days during their initial visit for treatment and observation
-owners will complete questionnaires at each visit and every 30 days following treatment for up to one year
-total participation last about one year, with 4 study visits

Eligibility

Cats must be male and have a history of idiopathic cystitis and urethral obstructions.  Cats cannot have an existing perineal urethrostomy or have other major illnesses that would affect lifespan or ability to undergo anesthesia.
