Now Recruiting Dogs with Bone Cancer

Description
NC State is recruiting dogs with bone cancer (osteosarcoma) for a clinical trial that compares 2 radiotherapy approaches. Each enrolled dog will get a single
dose of radiotherapy, followed within 3 weeks by standard surgery (limb amputation).
Testing Requirements
Large or giant breed dogs may be eligible if they have:
– X-rays showing a bone tumor just above the wrist (i.e., osteosarcoma of the distal radius, without a pathologic fracture)
– No evidence of metastasis (e.g., on chest X-rays)
– Not received any other osteosarcoma-directed therapy (e.g., chemotherapy)
– Not taken oral prednisone within 5 days of starting treatment
– No other serious systemic illnesses
