CVM Graduate Recipient of Science in Practice Award

Jeremy Pittman, a graduate and an adjunct faculty member at North Carolina State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, and a veterinarian with Murphy-Brown LLC, is the recipient of the Science in Practice Award for contributions to the swine industry.

Dr. Pittman, a diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, is a staff veterinarian for Murphy-Brown LLC-North Division, which manages 105,000 sows farrow-to-finish in North Carolina, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. He also serves on Murphy-Brown’s research and development team that seeks to improve the company’s global production, health and business performance.

The Science in Practice Award, presented at the 2015 Allen D. Leman Swine Conference in St. Paul MN, honors an individual “who has demonstrated or shows promising research productivity in production and disease and who has made contributions to in the creation and dissemination of new knowledge for the betterment of the swine industry.”

Pittman, a 2004 graduate of NC State’s College of Veterinary Medicine, was, in 2011, named both one of Pfizer’s Top 10 Under 40 swine veterinarians and a co-recipient of the AASV Alex Hogg Scholarship.
