Area(s) of Expertise

GLOBAL HEALTH
I believe one of the most effective forms of extension to improve on-farm animal welfare is through applied research. Specifically, my applied research program applies concepts of animal welfare and behavior in three main areas; 1) Timely and humane euthanasia, 2) On-farm welfare assessments and audits, and 3) Alternative management practices to improve animal welfare on-farm. My research efforts include maintenance of Principal- and Co-principal investigator roles with extensive research collaboration within my department across multiple food animal species and participation in multi-state research addressing the swine, poultry and dairy industry needs in particular.
