NCALAM Workshop in Lab Animal Medicine

May 14-16, 2026 • Hybrid Meeting

The annual North Carolina Workshop in Laboratory Animal Medicine is appropriate for veterinarians specializing in laboratory animal medicine, especially those preparing for ACLAM board certification.

The workshop will present relevant topics in laboratory animal medicine with an emphasis on the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM) primary species and recent literature. Registration for the workshop is required.

The slide collection established by the team at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) will be available for review electronically May 14th – May 31st. This collection includes biology and diseases of many laboratory animal species.

The ACLAM Mock Exam by the International Mock ACLAM Exam Coalition will be given on Saturday, May 16th and is open to all interested individuals. Workshop registration is not required to participate in the mock exam. Anyone wishing to attend only the mock exam should contact Ilana Galex at ilanag@email.unc.edu.

Location & Lodging

The course will take place at the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine, located at 1060 William Moore Drive in Raleigh, North Carolina. The NCSU CVM is located approximately 10 miles from Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU).

Lodging is available at the Hilton Garden Inn Raleigh/Crabtree Valley located at 3912 Arrow Drive, Raleigh, NC 27612 at a discounted rate of $149 per night + tax. The hotel is located next to the Crabtree Valley Mall, by the intersection of I-440 and Highway 70. The hotel offers a free shuttle to and from the workshop and complimentary cooked-to-order breakfast is included in the room rate.

Important Information

Please note the following:

  • No one will be admitted into the workshop without a paid registration.
  • All in-person attendees should have a government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport, military ID, etc.).
  • All course handouts will be provided electronically.
  • Please refer to the campus map for building and parking locations.
  • The workshop will be held in B-112 (South Theater). There will be signs to direct you to the room. Please enter the building through the main entrance of the CVM Main Building.
  • The Veterinary Medicine Library is located in the south end of the CVM Building near the South Theater.
  • Limited parking for the workshop will be available with permit in the parking deck located behind the Research Building. You may request a parking permit when registering for the course.

Registration

Registration fees are as follows:

  • Veterinarians (in person or virtual) – $350
  • Veterinary Students (in person or virtual) – $50

Registration fees include:

  • Admission to the workshop (in person or virtual)
  • Electronic copies of course handouts
  • 15 Continuing Education (CE) credits from the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Board (full attendance required to receive the total CE credit)
  • Electronic access to the NIEHS Comparative Medicine slide sets
  • Continental breakfast, lunch, and refreshment breaks for on-site attendees
  • Admission to a Social Event on Thursday evening for on-site attendees

Cancellation Policy

Full refunds will be granted for notices received in writing by seven days prior to the course. After that time, there will be a 25% cancellation fee. No refunds will be granted after the course has begun.
