Neurobiology

Basic neuroscience research programs address fundamental questions on the structure, function, genetics, biochemistry, bioinformatics, and physiology of the nervous system during development, normal adult stages, as well as under pathological conditions.  Clinical studies aim to unravel the genetic basis of naturally occurring diseases of the nervous system, apply approaches to repair neurodegeneration and injury through regenerative models, and develop behavioral and functional methods to assess therapeutic interventions in pain, itch and motor-system disorders.
