Gastroenterology

The NC State college of Veterinary Medicine gastroenterology group has developed into the foremost veterinary gastrointestinal research program in the world, with key strengths in mucosal responses to injury, stress and microbial invasion, as well as translational large animal models.

These strengths are built on a foundation of extensive collaborations within NC State and neighboring Triangle Universities, as well as unique resources, most notably the Gnotobiotic Core, and the Large Animal Models Core. These Cores are funded by the Center for Gastrointestinal Biology and Disease  at UNC and NC State. Additional collaborations with investigators on main campus within the CALS department of Animal Science and Poultry Science have enabled the group to develop a comprehensive and cutting edge approach to digestive disease research.
