Residency: Clinical Animal Behavior
This 3-year residency provides clinical experiences, research opportunities, and didactic learning leading to qualification for board-certification by the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists (ACVB), while contributing to the teaching program at the NC State Veterinary Hospital.
Program
This program provides intensive training in behavioral therapy including major responsibility for patient care. The resident will spend the majority of his/her time seeing small animal clinical cases in the Clinical Behavior Service of the NC State Veterinary Hospital. Diagnosis and treatment of behavior issues in dogs and cats will be emphasized. Training will also include evaluation and management of the behavior of laboratory animals, horses, food animals, pet birds and other exotics.
In addition to clinical service, the resident will participate in clinical rounds, teaching, and relevant seminars, and will complete at least one research project. Depending on the educational needs of the individual resident, opportunity will be provided to attend didactic graduate-level courses on topics relevant to veterinary behavior.
