Anemia Associated With Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) In Cats

Description
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) affects many older cats and can lead to anemia, a
condition in which the body does not produce enough red blood cells. Anemia can
contribute to decreased energy, weakness, reduced appetite, and a lower quality of life.
Currently, treatment options for cats with CKD-associated anemia are limited, and there
are no FDA-approved therapies specifically developed for this condition.
The Harris Lab at North Carolina State University is conducting a clinical trial to
evaluate the safety and effectiveness of an investigational treatment designed to
address anemia associated with CKD in cats. This study may help advance the
development of new treatment options for cats affected by kidney disease and anemia.

Eligibility
– Cats diagnosed with Stage 2 CKD (Creat ≥ 1.6mg/dL or SDMA ≥ 18ug/dL and
USG < 1.035
– ≥ 2yrs of age
– Non-regenerative anemia associated with CKD , Anemia defined at PCV ≤ 27%
