Bio

Dr. Tomas D. Gonzalez is an Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist in the Department of Population Health and Pathobiology at North Carolina State University, College of Veterinary Medicine.

Originally from Costa Rica, Dr. Gonzalez earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Universidad Nacional de La Plata in Argentina. He then completed a clinical internship followed by a residency with the Food Animal Reproduction and Medicine Service at the University of Florida, where he also obtained a Master of Science degree focused on a novel reproductive management strategy for lactating dairy cows.

Following his training, Dr. Gonzalez joined the University of California, Davis, where he worked with the Livestock Herd Health and Reproduction Service, concentrating on herd health, reproductive management, and preventive medicine.

Dr. Gonzalez’s research interests include reproductive physiology and management, programs for timed artificial insemination in food animals, periparturient health, and animal welfare.
