Jiwoong Her
Bio
Dr. Jiwoong Her is an associate professor in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care, Nephrology and Extracorporeal Services at North Carolina State University. He earned his DVM from Chungnam National University in South Korea. Dr. Her completed a master’s degree and residency in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care at Auburn University in 2020. He then served as an Assistant Professor of Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care at the Ohio State University before joining NCSU in 2024. During his faculty appointment at the OSU, he completed Hemodialysis Academy and a fellowship in Extracorporeal Therapies. He completed a residency in the American College of Veterinary Nephrology and Urology at NCSU in 2025.

Clinical interests are focused on extracorporeal therapies, kidney disease, fluid therapy, oxygenation, and ventilation. The vast majority of scholarly interest is clinically oriented, aimed specifically at improving the diagnosis and treatment of critical conditions, including sepsis, respiratory diseases, and kidney diseases in dogs and cats.
