Erika Gruber

Bio

Dr. Gruber earned her veterinary degree from Cornell University. She completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine at Colorado State University, and residency training in Clinical Pathology at Cornell. Dr. Gruber continued her training at Cornell in the field of Immunology, where she investigated how physicalproperties of the microenvironment modulate the function of macrophages.

My research is focused on the regulation and role of macrophages in health and disease. Macrophages are perhaps best known for their role in host response to infection, but they play equally important and varied roles in numerous diseases including atherosclerosis, obesity, and cancer. My lab seeks to understand the signals that regulate macrophage function, so that we may better understand how these cells orchestrate pro-inflammatory or anti-inflammatory responses.
