Curriculum Revision
CVM has a new curriculum design for its
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program.
Beginning with the first year class in Fall 2024, we will be doing away with dozens of distinct courses and replacing them with five curricular “Threads”. Each Thread combines multiple traditional courses in new, highly integrated ways and stretches over all three pre-clinical years. Same content, new format.
Our vision scaffolds learning around the AAVMC’s Competency-Based Veterinary Education model (CBVE) with adjustments made for the particular needs of our state and to maintain a communications and professionalism core that has proven invaluable for our graduates.
This is more than just repackaging. The new model provides internally consistent Threads that facilitate the smooth transfer of knowledge across semesters and years. It affords us better opportunities for developing the kind of dynamic skill sets and understanding – both medical and professional – necessary for DVMs in an ever-evolving field.
