TC Front – TC Front NCTA Caisson the NCTA Caisson Unit will be showing some of their team of beautiful Percheron/Morgan horses. Two of the horses in this Unit were also on the team that carried President Ronald Reagan’s casket.

1 The Family & Community Service supports the human-animal bond between people and their animals. When this bond is tested by behavior problems, illness, injury, or death, they are here to help.

2a Cardiology is dedicated to improving the lives of pets with heart disease. Their service provides compassionate and expert state-of-the-art treatments to provide the best patient care.

2b Echocardiogram (echo) machine.

3 Neurology offers the latest diagnostics and treatments for neurological conditions such as epilepsy, brain tumors and spinal cord injury in dogs and cats.

4 The Dialysis Service provides supportive treatment for patients with severe kidney disease and offers state-of-the-art treatment for select intoxications and immune-mediated diseases.

5 Internal Medicine diagnoses and treats serious health problems of dogs and cats, such as diabetes, asthma, and infectious disease. Their team also performs endoscopic techniques such as laser lithotripsy of bladder stones.

6 Emergency & Critical Care, comprising the Intensive Care Unit and the Small Animal Emergency Service, assists you and your veterinarian with emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

7 Anesthesia supports all of the patient care services across the College of Veterinary Medicine, providing anesthesia care to approximately 4,200 large and small animal patients a year.

8a Computed Tomography (CT) Unit.

8b Radiology provides advanced diagnostic imaging technology using digital radiographs (X-ray), fluoroscopy, nuclear scintigraphy, computed tomography (7a), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and ultrasound. They also provide teleradiology services to veterinarians throughout North Carolina.

9 Small Animal Surgery provides a full range of orthopedic, soft tissue, and oncologic (cancer) surgical services.

10a The cancer pathogenesis poster hallway displays the work of our third year students and explains various mechanisms by which cancer can develop, with an emphasis on veterinary species.

10b Oncology provides treatment for all types of cancer using chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery.

11 Ophthalmology is dedicated to the care of ocular (eye) conditions involving all species of animals, with a primary emphasis on maintaining vision and comfort, in order to provide the best quality of life possible.

12 Dermatology provides diagnostic and treatment expertise for all species, including but not limited to dogs, cats and horses with diseases of the skin and ear.

13 Pharmacy dispenses medications for all species of animals, compounds drugs to make them easier and safer to administer to animal patients, and provides consultation to veterinarians to ensure safe and effective drug therapy.
