Students, faculty and clinicians at the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine play an important role in helping save the critically endangered red wolf species.

The NC State Carnivore Conservation Crew is a volunteer organization run by veterinary students and veterinary faculty. We provide medical and husbandry services for a pack of red wolves. Currently, NC State has a pack of wolves including several breeding pairs. We partner closely with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ SAFE (Saving Animals From Extinction) Program to help save these red wolves as they are the most critically endangered canine species in the world.
