Microbiology
The Clinical Microbiology section processes a wide range of bacterial and fungal cultures for pathogen detection, and antimicrobial susceptibility evaluation in support of the NC State Veterinary Hospital and the surrounding veterinary community
Parasitology
Detection, identification and quantification of fecal parasites by fecal float, sedimentation, Baermann and McMasters techniques is available through the MMD.
Molecular Diagnostics
The Molecular Diagnostics section offers routine PCRs for Salmonella and Leptospira bacterial species, and viral agents including chicken proventricular necrosis virus (CPNV, TVP) and avian infectious laryngotracheitis (ILT).
Virology
The Virology section provides routine and specialized diagnostic testing for most domesticated species. Routine Diagnostics include SNAP ELISAs, feline virus isolation and vaccine titers. Specialized poultry diagnostics include turkey coronavirus(TCV) serology by ELISA.
